Operation Dignity
When Tim Carson first took office as coroner, he discovered that cremated remains of 57 individuals had been left unclaimed - some since 1993. With the help of a veteran's group in Arizona, Tim identified that 15 of the unclaimed remains belonged to U.S. veterans. In July 2022, Tim Carson and the coroner's office brought the community together to pay their respects in a memorial service.
Cribs for Kids
After two infants in Westmoreland County died from unsafe sleeping conditions at home, Tim Carson began searching for methods to prevent more of these tragedies. Tim decided to partner with Cribs for Kids, a nonprofit that provides free cribs and classes to families to promote safe sleeping. Thanks to Tim and the generosity of local businesses, classes are offered to families twice every month at the coroner's office.
Loss Team
To help reduce the number of suicides in Westmoreland County, Tim Carson partnered with the Ray of Hope task force to create the Local Outreach to Suicide Survivors (LOSS) team. If a suicide has been reported in the county, the coroner's office assigns members of the LOSS team to act as a resource for the affected family. Tim Carson helped make Westmoreland one of only two counties in the state to have a LOSS team.
The Center for Organ Recovery & Education
Tim Carson has enabled more Westmoreland County residents to become tissue donors after their deaths, providing life-saving treatments to patients in need. Thanks to Tim's efforts, the number of referrals to CORE has significantly increased. To learn more about Tim's efforts and impact, click here
